John Goldrust is a musician based in Oxford, England. His style of songwriting is inspired by Rock, Indie, Funk and Blues music from the 1940’s onwards and is founded on centuries past of Classical and Folk music. His Lyrics are based on Poetry and inspired by Singer-Songwriters such as Bob Dylan, Lennon & McCartney, Suzanne Vega and Tracy Chapman. John also has a fascination with Electronic Dance music.

Biography

Theatre and Performance such as Dance, Mime, Comedy and Acting formed the basis of John Goldrust’s approach to music, even as he learned classical approaches to musical instrumentation such as Choral Singing, Piano and Saxophone. However, it was only upon discovering his first vernacular instrument in Folk and Rock Guitar, that his true vocation began to emerge, both as a solo Singer-songwriter and as a Rock & Blues Vocalist and Guitarist in several bands during his teenage years.

Following an academic path at school and university, John became increasingly restless in his desire to persue a career in music, and so began approaching songwriting and music from an increasingly abstract direction. This was inspired by the abstract nature of pure maths, while he applied new theories of music inspired by the applied maths and physics he was learning in the classroom. This culminated in developing a new theory of music and a reduction to the essence of the medium of song.
